The Lord of Huanca, Peru, venerated by thousands of pilgrims, rests under the gaze of the Apu Pachatusan, great Doctor of Apus (mountain spirits) of these sacred lands. Christian devotion and Andean cosmovision are interwoven.
It is a living blending—there is no contradiction and exists side by side.
What would our polarized world look like if we learned to harmonize the seemingly opposite?
If we recognized our differences as seeds of possibility and composted them into fertile soil from which something more whole, more alive, and harmonious could grow.
Faith, prayer, rituals and ceremonies have many faces, and the sacred knows no borders.
I felt this truth deeply yesterday, being in conscious presence of both the Lord of Huanca and Apu Pachatusan.
I could clearly recognize once more that the answer to our divisions is not in separating into ‚us’ and ‚them‘, but in opening our minds and hearts to all relationships: with ourselves, with the ‚other‘ beyond our family circle, with the natural world, the living Earth that sustains us, and the Cosmos.
Harmonious living and leading is possible when we stop excluding and othering, and start looking with curiosity and empathy, with love and forgiveness, with openness to learn and expand our vision to new ways of seeing. And this is a personal choice to begin or deepen this way of being.
May we remember that harmony is not uniformity, but wholeness — and that harmony between worlds begins with harmony within.
When we reconcile the opposites within, we become bridges for a new world.
This is the leadership our times call for.
